For students of key workers, students with EHCPs, and other students who have been advised to attend school by their Head of House.

I am pleased to have seen so many students who have been offered time in school coming into school over the past weeks. I completely understand that some students have been unable to do so as a result of self-isolating or shielding.

For the week commencing 01/06/20 then please note the following:

A very big thank you to our community of families for taking the time to complete the questionnaire last week, we are really grateful for your feedback.  We will look closely at the results over the next week or so and hope to share some of the feedback with our community soon after that.

In the meantime, we noticed that there were some direct questions and comments in the responses, and we will look to adding these to our FAQ section, but it may take us a little while to get to these.  So, if you have a question, a request, or would like to share something with us, please do feel welcome to get in touch and we will try and get some speedier responses for you.

As ever, please do feel welcome to get in touch for any reason at all.

Here is our eighth newsletter, with alternatives to hugs, guidance on netiquette, bee counting and much more! There's also, in a separate PDF, the latest newsletter from the school nurse service.

Dear Parents & Carers,

I hope you and those close to you are coping as well as possible with the current unusual situation. I am writing to update you on the progress of our Year 9 Options process.

Normally, we would have been finalising the options with students and their families over the past term. However, various aspects of this process have been made more challenging by the decision for schools to remain closed to the majority of students since 20th March. My aim is to send confirmations to you soon after half term.

I appreciate that you are keen to receive this news as soon as possible, but I can assure you that the course decisions themselves are not being affected by the school closure. I am grateful for your patience.

Please do get in contact if you have any specific questions regarding the options for a student.

Yours faithfully,

Mr N Lamb

Deputy Headteacher

As we continue to plan our offer and resources for the school to to be open for the children of Key Workers during the period of school closure, we need to update our database of Key Worker parents and carers and their needs for support in the coming weeks and months.

If you think are in this category please would you complete the questionnaire on our VLE*. For those who completed the register in March, there is just a quick update please, to check if your needs have changed at all over the last few weeks.

Please be assured that this information will be treated confidentially. Please can you confirm these details by 2.30pm on Friday 22 May, if at all possible, as this will enable us to plan our provision from Monday 1 June onwards.

Thank you for your ongoing support.

Please see the link below to a timetable for virtual sessions next week (week commencing Monday 18th May). Subjects highlighted in red are those delivering a virtual session. These will appear as events on your child’s SMHW page. They might be a link to a video session or an attachment to open. This will be clearly shown on the event. Some links will be from the platform ‘Loom’, for which we recommend a modern browser, such as Chrome, Safari, Firefox, or Edge; the Loom platform will not work with Internet Explorer. You do NOT need to create an account to access ‘Loom’ videos.

The timetable may be subject to slight change, but we hope this enables your child to organise their week in order to access these sessions. The links will be live from that day, and can be viewed at any time after (in case there are clashes, or you have more than one child trying to view these).
