Wallingford School has grown considerably over recent years and is set to continue to grow with new housing in the town and the surrounding villages. As part of this growth we will be admitting 242 students in Year 7 from September 2022 with the intention that the school will grow to around 1500 students for 2026-27. This growth will be managed carefully in order to ensure that the high standards which characterise Wallingford School and make it such a popular and oversubscribed school are maintained without compromise.
To support the growth in student numbers the school has been fortunate to have received funding from Oxfordshire County Council for a new teaching block at the front of the school site. The new block will provide 20 new classrooms including 3 new fully-fitted science laboratory rooms and 3 bespoke IT suites with 90 computers; there will also be an additional new music room and a new DT room within the existing school site.
The new building will provide a very attractive new and modern entrance to the school with a frontage which complements the buildings on St George’s Road. This exciting project begins in March 2021 and the new block will be ready for occupation by September 2022. We will keep all members of the school community updated as construction progresses - these are exciting times!
