Rehearsing The Addams FamilyThis week’s assemblies have had the title “What do I not know” and have focused on resilience in learning, that it’s OK to be unsure and uncertain, to ask questions and to be stretched and that this is all part of thinking hard and making progress. As with previous references to assemblies, I won’t go into any further details here but please do ask at home about the message delivered and for students to consider where hard thinking in school has occurred during this week. I certainly saw it very much in evidence in a superb Year 10 German lesson on Wednesday so anyone in that group has an easy answer!

House events have marched on with Wednesday’s House Mastermind a particular highlight of the week. The pace of the questions was unrelenting, the competition ferocious and the depth and breadth of both specialist subject and general knowledge quite stunning. Very well done to all who participated.  Today we look forward to the Big House Drawing Challenge and seeing what it brings.

Related to drawing and the Houses, we have been very impressed by the entries in our Design a House Crest Competition and we look forward to seeing the final versions soon which will be excellent additions to the vibrant sense of House identity within the school.

Extra-curricular activities roll on with practices and fixtures, Bigg Band, choir and the huge cast of our upcoming production of The Addams Family filling the school with noise, music and song. Equally, there is a huge amount going on at lunchtime with Art Club, Warhammer Club and Chess Club particular highlights this week. Participation is key but it has to be said that there is a huge amount of talent out there which never fails to impress.

Finally, I would strongly encourage any parents and carers who have not done so already to download the Edulink app. It is very user-friendly and we are increasingly using it as our main vehicle of communication with home. Details of how to do so can be found below:
