Tuesday 4th February
Students taking part in our annual French Exchange to Grenoble spent the day in Lyon, France’s 2nd or 3rd biggest city (depending on who you are asking!). We had a walking tour of the city in the morning and then after some free time for shopping and lunch visited the Gallo-Roman museum. The acoustics in the Roman amphitheatre were very impressive and we enjoyed a few impromptu performances from our students.
Wednesday 5th February
This morning students on the French exchange spent some time getting to know Grenoble. After a treasure hunt around the city centre and some shopping time, it was back to the school on the tram to spend the afternoon and evening with the host families. There is no school in France on Weds afternoons!
Thursday 6th February
On Thursday students on the French Exchange spent the day in the Vercors mountains along with their French partners. In the morning we visited the Mémorial de la Résistance where we learnt about life in Occupied France and the role of the French resistance in World War II. After a picnic in the sun it was time for a walk in the snow!
Friday 7th February
On Friday our students spent the morning in lessons at our partner school, Lycée Les Eaux Claires. There were a real variety of lessons from Italian to Economics! After a delicious lunch in the canteen we headed into Grenoble on the tram and walked up to the top of La Bastille. The views from the top were spectacular! We just had time for a quick visit to the supermarket before heading back to the school for a little farewell party for parents and students. We were really proud of our Year 12 students - Anna, Ella, Jasmine, Lili and Orlagh - who led English lessons in the morning and gave a thank you speech in French in the afternoon! We have one day to spend with host families tomorrow before heading home on Sunday.
