The sun is out, and so is the latest edition of our newsletter (though it's more of a magazine these days!). Just in case the April rains spoil the spring weather, we've included not one, not two, but three sun photos at the start of this issue. And not just a run-of-the-mill Wallingford sun, but the much warmer-looking Moroccan sun. Yes, we spoil you.
After sharing a trip across the Sahara and the Atlas Mountains with Years 11 and 13, we have a journey of a different kind as Year 13 student Thea shares her journey learning and playing the trumpet in and out of school. Is music in your DNA? Maybe our Biology students can find out, following their trip to the labs at the Natural History Museum.
It's back to the arts with Year 7s learning the artistry of Van Gogh and Kandinsky, while our A Level English students got to see Shakespeare's Richard II (let's hope they'd already seen the first one) and Sophocles' Oedipus in two of London's fine theatres. More Shakespeare for the Year 9s, though this time it's back to his birthplace of Stratford-upon-Avon to see the RSC perform Twelfth Night.
There's a full round-up of what our Scholars have been up to. From Belgium battlefields, mock magistrates and Parliamentary debates, students from across the year groups have been giving their minds a great workout. A more physical workout was had by Years 9 and 10 Dance students, in a workshop from James Cousins Company.
And if you're feeling exhausted from all this reading about exercise, art and travel, scoff another chocolate egg for energy because there's still more art, sport, house events, poetry, music, maths, library and young carer news.
Happy Easter!
