One of the highlights of our school year is our Year 13 revision visit to the Lake District. It took place the week before the Easter holiday and, as ever, was a great success. For those who don’t know, the week consists of focused revision during the day with “downtime” including walks, teambuilding on and off the water, and time together – this year including songs accompanied by a guitar – in the evenings and at other free times.
The school’s results at A Level and BTEC have been consistently excellent for a very long time and “the Lakes” is a big part of that. It also reinforces the sense of belonging which characterises our school as a group of young people about to embark on the next stage of their lives, which is something we cherish and value. Thank you to the year group for their collective approach and support for each other, thank you to the staff who supported them brilliantly as ever, and a particular thank you to the Walter Bigg Foundation for supporting this visit over many years – it is greatly appreciated.
We have picked up the pace in school this week following the Easter break, and it's great to be back. The highlight of the week was last night’s Spotlight Dance Show, which was simply fantastic with a huge variety of performances demonstrating the talent and commitment of our students – very well done to all. Finally, good luck to our Year 10 students who embark on their work experience placements next week – without doubt they will gain much from the week and be excellent ambassadors for the school.
