The sun has shone and it has been a busy week at Wallingford School. The highlight was one of the high points of our school year – Sports Day. As ever, it was a great day with competition in everything from sprints to archery, rowing to relays (including the final staff race), climbing to cycling, cross-country to this year’s innovation of pickleball and whole lot more. What is wonderful about our Sports Day is that there is something for everyone to participate in and to be a part of. Of course, it is about scoring points for Houses and trying to win but it is also about being part of something and that cuts to the heart of our school community. As always, a huge thankyou must go to our PE team for their vision, planning and organisation of what was a brilliant day.

House points were racked up at Sports Day and have continued to be this week with the Masked Singer being an exciting new addition to the House calendar on Thursday and the Key Stage 4 Bake-Off with the theme of Retro Computer Games taking place on Wednesday. All of these events and activities contribute points to the overall final House standings which will be revealed at next Friday’s final whole school assembly.

In other news, our Year 12 students have had a really good Futures Week including a university visit and the excellent Human Library careers event on Monday; a particular thanks to all of those people who volunteered their time to support with the latter which provided invaluable insights into jobs and careers moving forward.

Finally, the trips and visits roll on with Year 7 at Kew Gardens, more Year 8s in Boulogne and a STARS trip to Paultons Park amongst other things. The end of term will come soon enough but for now we thrive on the energy of our school.
