Last week some of our students had the opportunity to visit Bletchley Park, where they took part in an interactive session on breaking codes and ciphers - with some WWII history on the Enigma machine. They were able to use a genuine Enigma machine to see how it worked, and how difficult it was to break the German encryption.

Later they had a guided tour of Bletchley Park to learn all about the history of code breaking in WWII - and how the first computers were used to help break Enigma. They were also able to play with a number of interactive exhibits on how the code breaking machines worked - and the huge impact the secret work at Bletchley Park had on the outcome of WWII.
