It has been straight back down to business after the half-term holiday with public examinations continuing for our Year 11 and Year 13 students who are all working very impressively. It is not always easy with exams day after day but they are displaying exemplary resilience and working very hard indeed.

Assemblies this week have been led by our new Year 12 Student Leadership Team who have been introducing themselves to the younger year groups, talking about their plans for the year and emphasising the importance of the student councils in providing a voice for all students to express their views on what they would like to see developed in the school. The Year 12s are already shaping up to be a great team and it promises to be an exciting year ahead.

House competitions roll on and a highlight of the week before the holiday was the Recycled Robot Competition with some very creative entries, and Wednesday lunchtime this week then saw one of the highlights of the House calendar with the annual House Bake-Off Competition. As one of the judges I have to say that this is always such a hard competition to judge as the standard of entries is incredibly high and the commitment and creativity of the bakers are a joy to behold. There was of course a very well-deserved winner from Christie House but everyone who entered has to be congratulated on their efforts. The Inter-Form House Football Competition is also continuing at lunchtime on the Astroturf with Year 9 embracing the spirit of competition this week and having great fun.

Today sees the launch of our biennial Sponsored Walk in special assemblies. Much more will follow on the Walk in the weeks to come but for now the date is Tuesday 15th July and it is always a highlight of the year with the whole school coming together to do something very special.
