I think we would all agree that it has been an “interesting” week with our school lives being significantly disrupted by the heat. As such we have drawn in a little as a school with less happening than usual but I have to commend all of the school community for its approach to the hot weather; it was resilient, good-humoured and sensible – all qualities to be celebrated. I also must say “well done” to our Year 12 students in particular for their approach to their internal exams during a hot week – even if they were mainly in air-conditioned splendour!

Either side of the especially hot days, it was great to see next year’s Year 12 in school on Monday and Tuesday for their taster days with a mix of familiar and new faces starting to think about the next stage in their school lives. Today we have our second day trip to Boulogne for Year 8 where baguettes, Nutella and French sweets will be purchased while someone also always seems to buy a beret. Today also sees History students in Years 9 and 10 off to Cannock Chase which is always a fascinating trip.

Next week the temperature drops and we look forward to Year 9 heading off on their residential visits and next year’s Year 7s joining us on Thursday for their Transition Day. We are still some way from the end of term and there is a lot going on!
